Okay. Before I say anything. No. The planets do not MAKE you do anything. You can't be a dick and then blame it on Mercury being in retrograde. You are responsible for your own actions.
Okay. Rant over.
So back in the Greek and Roman days, astrologers studied the planets, and their archetypal energies. They believed that those shiny, bright things in the sky were Gods. The planets carry both good qualities, and bad qualities.
In my course over the weekend, we learned all about the planets from an archetypal perspective! Just like anything else, what the planets represent are: a way of picking up information, so that we can use it to our advantage to change. Depending on where the planets fall in your birth chart, and under what Chinese Houses, they can provide a lot of insightful information for you. I am a believer that you can't change your destiny, but you can make the trek a hell of a lot easier by the choices that you make! (That's a story for another day).
In the meantime, I thought it would be cool to write a little bit about the Moon, since I am often intrigued by the qualities that each Full Moon brings every month!
The Moon! The Moon was named after the Goddess Luna, or Selene. With a strong feminine energy, she governs the subconscious femininity of our personalities. She represents fertility, emotions, our mood, and our romantic side. Another aspect of the Moon, is she has a very strong representation of maternal aspects. With the being said, she governs our protective instincts, emotional security, and nourishing behaviour.
The Moon also governs the body parts like female parts: the womb, the breasts, as well as the pituitary gland, the skin, and the stomach. When the moon is working with us, and is in proper balance, it carries properties like: interpretation, protection, balanced feminine energy, healthy emotions, intuition, imagination and healthy fertility. However, if you have any negative attachments, or pathologies associated with the Moon energy, you could find yourself feeling insecure, needy, and have a strong emotional charge to memories.
So what does all of this mean? Depending on what sign your Moon is in, or where the Moon falls in your chart, you may have a harder time with your "Moon properties", or an easier time. The only thing that distinguishes the two, are your emotions around them.
Isn't our world amazing? How wonderful it is to have access to some pretty neat stuff. And like I said at the start, the Moon doesn't make you do anything. It's just another tool to have, to help yourself grow, let go of emotional attachments and belief systems, and learn more about yourself each day!
Just for fun, you can google "free birth charts", and as long as your know the exact time of your birth, you can read up on your Moon properties! According to my birth chart, my Moon falls in to Sagittarius, (not surprisingly as I have a ton of Sag in my chart!). I also have the Moon in my 4th Chinese House (I'll explain Chinese Houses in another post- a story for another day!)
Feel free to share your "Moon traits!" And as always, if you find yourself stuck, or emotionally attached to any aspect of the Moon, give me a shout, and let's chat!
(P.S. Could I say the word Moon any more in one post? Moonmoonmoonmoon...)
